Police are appealing for information after a burglary in Faringdon where burglars were scared off by the elderly homeowner.
Between 11.30pm yesterday and midnight, burglars forced their way into a house in Westland Road.
PC Fran Griffin said: “The 80-year-old man who lives at the address was woken when he heard a car outside and then noises coming from downstairs.
“Someone then came into his bedroom with a torch and shone it in his face, at which point he has started shouting and the burglar has run off.
“He then heard the car screeching away from the scene.
“Thankfully the man wasn’t hurt in the incident and it appears that he scared the burglar off before he stole anything.
“As it was dark and because he had a light shone in his face, the man didn’t get a good look at the burglar.
“I would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and speak to us so that we can catch the person responsible.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Griffin via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
