A NEW headmistress has been appointed at Headington School.
Caroline Jordan will take charge at the independent girls school in September next year.
She will succeed current head Anne Coutts, who is leaving later this month to become principal of Canberra Girls’ Grammar School in Australia.
Mrs Jordan is currently headmistress at St George’s School, in Ascot, Berkshire.
She is a former pupil at the School of St Helen and St Katharine in Abingdon and read geology at St Edmund Hall, Oxford.
She is chairman of the Girls’ Schools Association education committee and a member of the Independent Schools Examinations Board.
She said: “Oxford is my home town and it’s a wonderful opportunity for me to return to lead such a great school.
“I’m excited by the opportunity and am looking forward to getting to know the school and meeting the girls, staff and parents.”
Deputy head Dr Jennette Jeffries will run the school until next September.
