WANNABE models around Oxfordshire are being urged to come to the final casting call for Oxford Fashion Week tomorrow.
Judges from the event in March are on the look-out for men and women to model in the annual show.
They are also on the hunt for the ‘Face of Oxford Fashion Week’, with one lucky model appearing in the media as the image of the event.
The event is being held from February 28 to March 5, 2011, in conjunction with the Oxford Mail, and ‘the Face’ will be announced exclusively in our entertainment supplement The Guide on January 6.
Hermione Brooks, 19, has already signed up to take part, and urged others to do the same.
She said: “I’ve never done anything like this before, but last year one of my friends took part and they said it was really fun.
“So I thought I’d give it a go and see what happens – other people should definitely give it a go, they’ve got nothing to lose.”
The final casting call will be at 5pm tomorrow at the House Bar in Blue Boar Street, Oxford.
It is the event’s third year and big names like Alexander McQueen have already signed up to take part.
The Face of Oxford Fashion Week this year was Witney girl Tiffany Saunders, who modelled in the Oxford Style Show and the Malmaison Lingerie Show.
And since the win, she has featured in London Fashion Week and other international modelling events.
She is now a model ambassador for the Oxford event and will be going into Oxfordshire schools and colleges to find budding models.
She said: “It was at Oxford Fashion Week that I met another model who put me in touch with Richard Austin Rees, a fashion event co-ordinator who invited me along to a casting for London Fashion Week.
“To anyone considering casting for OFW 2011, I would strongly recommend it, whether it is a modelling career they want, or events management, or even just to have some fun.
“It’s a great experience where you get to work with lots of great people, including people in the modelling industry.”
Last year’s show attracted hundreds of spectators to 11 runway shows, in venues including the Town Hall and the Randolph Hotel.
Casting director John Spyrou said: “I am looking for a diverse group of models for this year’s Fashion Week. All models will be considered regardless of previous modelling experience.”
Models must be over 16 and will be required to walk for the casting directors. Take high heels and a bikini if auditioning for the lingerie show.
The catwalk shows will be on:
- March 1, 7.30pm: Concept Show
- March 2, 7.30pm: Lingerie show
- March 4, 8pm: Ethical show
- March 5, 7pm: Couture show
- March 5 and 6, 10am: Ethical fashion show
