I work as a coach driver and on Sunday, I brought a large group of passengers into Oxford to enjoy the attractions and spend the day.
We arrived just before 11am and after dropping off outside the Playhouse, I made my way to the coach park in Oxpens Road.
I was shocked to find that the coach park looked like a haulier’s yard.
I think there were five usable spaces, which were full. As I drove out of Oxford, I noticed coaches parked everywhere.
I ended up parked in a layby on the A34 for six hours.
If you bring a group of 50 people into a city to spend their money, surely it is not a lot to ask to have somewhere safe to park with toilet facilities and perhaps somewhere to get food and drink.
I was grateful that I didn’t need to show a legal break on my tachograph at the time of my visit.
My visit has put me off and, as other cities have excellent, reliable facilities, I’m afraid that I will be loath to come back.
