Perhaps the Rev Jane Sherwood (Last Thursday’s The Issue) should take advice from some of her colleagues.
While on holiday in Cornwall, we visited Truro Cathedral on September 14 and were amazed to see a shop set up in one of the aisles, complete with Christmas tree and twinkling lights.
Admittedly a lot of the items on sale were of a rather more tasteful design than you would see in the supermarkets but the fact is that the church is quite happy to cash in on seasonal goods, so it hardly becomes them to criticise others.
Perhaps the phrase pot and kettle come to mind.
