A TEENAGER was in a serious condition in hospital last night after he was struck by a car towed out of a ditch in North Oxfordshire.
Police said he was a passenger in a red Vauxhall Corsa which had gone into a gully on Main Road, between Fencott and Murcott.
The 19-year-old was struck during or shortly after it was pulled out of a gully by a silver Peugeot at 8.45pm on Saturday, police said.
The teenager suffered serious injuries and was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital, where he was yesterday still receiving treatment.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been bailed until Friday, February 25.
Police spokesman Rebecca Webber said: “The Corsa got stuck in the ditch and the Peugeot did tow it out. The car that had been stuck then hit one of the people previously inside it.
“As yet, we do not know at what point that happened and whether the car was being towed, or whether this happened afterwards.”
She said forensic officers are now analysing the tow rope.
Pc Andy Mott said: “I appeal to anybody who was near Fencott on Saturday evening and saw a red Corsa or grey Peugeot to contact police immediately.”
Witnesses can call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
