MORE than 50 firefighters tackled a blaze at Shipton Manor, Shipton on Cherwell last night.
The roof of a single storey annex was 20 per cent damaged by fire.
Crews from from Woodstock, Bicester, Kidlington, Oxford, Banbury and High Wycombe were called after the fire, near Kidlington, after it was reported at 8.10pm An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said:
“On arrival, initial crews were faced with a severe developing fire in the roof of a single storey annex to the main building, which measured approximately 25m x 10m.
“At the height of the blaze, over fifty firefighters were deployed and crews currently remain in attendance damping down, and stripping the roof to complete fire-fighting operations.
“An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently taking place, which is believed to have originated from the chimney, and at this time is not thought to be suspicious.
