An overturned lorry and a shed load of insulation caused long delays on the M40 in Oxfordshire this afternoon.
The southbound motorway was closed between junction 8A at Wheatley and junction six at Watlington.
The lorry is on its side blocking lanes two and three between junction seven and junction six after reportedly hitting the central reservation just before 1pm.
Police later said the road was likely to be closed until 9pm.
Diversions are being set up via the A40.
Delays are also reported on the northbound carriageway between junctions six and seven as drivers slow down to look at the crash scene.
And on the northbound A34, hold-ups are reported following the breakdown of a lorry between the B4027 (Bletchingdon turn) and the B430 (Weston-on-the Green turn), which is blocking one lane.
