Student protesters have stormed Oxford University's historic Radcliffe Camera during a rally over tuition fees.
Protesters from Oxford's two universities and city colleges led an impromptu march along High Street and St Mary's Passage today.
When they reached the library building, about 50 students climbed over the iron railings and surged in.
Inside students said protesters climbed on tables and played a sound system - with some campaigners vowing to stay there for the night.
One 23-year-old Oxford Brookes student, who refused to give his name, scaled the Radcliffe Camera to hoist a banner from a third-floor window.
He said: "This is to send a message to the Government and to the people who put the Government in this position."
Police were out in force but failed to stop the occupation of the building.
