Police are appealing for information after two men were attacked and robbed in Witney.
At about 5am on Friday, the men, aged 19 and 20, were walking from Newland up Oxford Hill when they were approached by three men, two white and one mixed race, at the junction of Oxford Hill and Kingsfield Crescent.
The three men demanded that the two men hand over their money and mobile phones and an altercation broke out. The 20-year-old ran off up Oxford Hill and was chased by the two white offenders.
The 19-year-old stayed at the scene and was assaulted by the mixed race man.
The 20-year-old was later found further up the road on the floor, having sustained serious injuries to his head.
PC Claire Sadler said: “A man in a Volkswagen stopped to help the 20-year-old man who was assaulted and we would be keen to trace this man and ask him what he might have seen.
“I would also like to hear from anyone else who was in the area who may have seen or heard anything.
“This was an unprovoked attack that has left one of the victims with some nasty injuries, so we want to catch those responsible as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Sadler via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
