I wish to express my concern about a situation in Headington, where an accident is waiting to happen.
The recent alterations to the London Road were, hopefully, to improve things, but the narrowing of London Road at the entrance to Bury Knowle Park leaves a lot to be desired and whoever designed it needs to go back to the drawing board.
Coming from the lights going eastward you are met by a zebra crossing. As is usual during the daytime, there is a queue of traffic stretching back from the lights to go towards Headington Hill, which gives motorists no vision of pedestrians wishing to cross over via the zebra crossing towards the park, as they have to creep through the stationary traffic in the hope they will be noticed, a dangerous situation.
There is a traffic light in the middle of the road to create a bus lane.
The length of the bus lane is about the length of a coach or bus, before they have to merge into the main stream of traffic again as there is usually a queue of traffic back from the lights.
It is also very difficult for vehicles going into Stile Road & exiting the road through the lines of traffic.
