I, and I assume all Horspath residents, have just had a piece of paper through the letter box about the proposed wind turbine at Horspath.
Partnerships for Renewables say they have agreed with Oxford City Council to a site redesign because BMW was concerned the turbine might impact on any future plans for expansion.
The new position for the turbine is still in the same field well away from the BMW plant and is, in fact, in the Green Belt. But the main difference is, if agreed, it will be right on the edge of Horspath, close to the houses.
A few years ago BMW managed to get the old Pressed Steel sports ground taken out of the Green Belt to allow them to expand the factory.
At the time it appeared this was all done behind closed doors because the first Horspath knew about it was when it had been agreed.
With the city council apparently supporting the new turbine site, will this mean another breach of the Green Belt. We’ll probably find out when it’s all too late.
