AAA-NORCAP is a charitable organisation supporting adults affected by adoption. AAA-NORCAP provides assistance to adopted adults and their relatives who may be experiencing distress as a result of adoption, particularly around the time of reunion between adopted people and birth relatives, or when such reunion is sought but cannot be achieved.
AAA-NORCAP also holds the largest contact register in the UK with more than 65,000 entries to date.
Founded in 1982 by the current CEO, Pam Hodgkins, the organisation is based in Wheatley, where it is proud to be part of the local community.
During National Adoption Week (November 1-7), AAA-NORCAP took part in a number of events showing how important their work is, including appearances on ITV1’s Lorraine show about reunions made through social networking sites, and on This Morning about an adopted person’s search for, and reunion with, her birth mother. This was a powerful example of the skilled searching and intermediary work undertaken by AAA-NORCAP over the last 28 years, which has helped to bring about so many similar reunions.
Pam Hodgkins said: “Although we are a national organisation, Oxfordshire is our home and we are keen to reach as many people locally as possible, either so that they may benefit from our services or to increase our wonderful team of volunteers. The charity has used volunteers to provide support and services since its inception; they are a very significant resource for the charity and we would be pleased to hear from anyone interested in offering their time on a voluntary basis, either in the office or in other capacities. Anyone who is able to support AAA-NORCAP will help ensure the continuation of the organisation and its valuable work”.
AAA-NORCAP does not receive any funding from central Government and is entirely dependent on payments for work undertaken and on donations.
Particularly at this difficult financial time, AAA-NORCAP needs your support and would be pleased to hear from you if you are able to help in any way.
