A PROSTITUTE yesterday told jurors she was threatened by a man accused of trafficking women.
The Polish woman, who spoke through an interpreter at Oxford Crown Court, was giving evidence in the trial of two men accused of running the “Fun Girls in Oxford” agency.
Anastassios Papas, 42, of Iffley Road, Oxford, is charged with five counts of trafficking women within the UK for sexual exploitation; conspiracy to traffic women within the UK for sexual exploitation, controlling prostitution for gain and converting £67,075 of criminal property. Another man, who cannot be named, denies conspiracy to traffic women within the UK for sexual exploitation; two counts of trafficking women into the UK for exploitation and trafficking women within the UK.
The woman said their working relationship soured when she declined to sleep with Papas. She said: “He told me that ... I may regret that.”
Jurors heard she understood that to mean potential jobs would be given to other girls or “something bad would happen to me”.
The trial continues.
