TRACEY Veal remembers sleeping out on the streets of London in 1981, eager to catch a glimpse of Princess Diana on her wedding day.
Now, almost 30 years later, she is preparing to do the same as her idol’s first son plans his own Royal wedding to Kate Middleton.
Mrs Veal, of Garsington, saw the People’s Princess five times, including during three visits to Oxfordshire.
She also kept a night-time vigil outside Buckingham Palace when the princess died in 1997.
The mother of three is planning to follow Prince William and Miss Middleton to wherever they marry and will make the trip with friend Katrina Layton, from Marston, who herself slept out on the night of Diana’s funeral despite being eight months pregnant.
Mrs Veal, 47, said: “I think she would’ve been very happy for Kate and William. She adored her boys.
“I don’t know much about Kate but I like what I know.”
