A volunteer who stole £6,700 from old people’s day centre where she worked has been given more time to pay the money back.
Frances Vickers, of Bluebell Way, Carterton, was an unpaid treasurer at Carterton Day Centre when she began paying cheques into her own account.
The 65-year-old was released after three months of a 10-month prison term and told to pay back the cash by November 1 or face four more months in jail.
But the deadline has been extended until February, after Vickers said she was awaiting money from her son.
