IT IS depressing that every year we have to report on thefts of poppy tins.
This time round someone has taken an estimated £150 from the Lady Eleanor Court sheltered housing in Abingdon.
It was chained up and nailed down after a similar theft last year so it would seem the thief is not easily deterred.
What a pity it would be next year if the thief were to bump into a passing serviceman or two as they left the crime scene . . . to be handed promptly to the police, obviously.
