A teenager was detained by police after he climbed over a barrier on a footbridge crossing Oxford's Eastern Bypass.

Police were called to the bridge over the A4142, near the BMW plant in Cowley, at 4.45pm on Friday.

Spokesman Craig Evry said: “Following growing concerns for the man’s safety, police officers detained him and he was taken to a mental health care facility for treatment.”
