THE interesting Channel 4 documentary last week about our £4.8 trillion debt certainly got me thinking.
It seems that to get Great Britain rich again, we must do everything to support the wealth-making private sector.
The retail sector should be given utmost support, like free parking and car parks to encourage shoppers.
It is vital to give the private sector support in the form of low business rates and low taxes.
The example of the success of Hong Kong, which has low taxes, was very telling and persuasive.
In the days when coal was king and Britain was a hive of industrial productivity, we were the richest country in the world.
We can do it again, but we need a Government with vision.
My sons have said they will set up a manufacturing business one day in the light of the economic forecasts.
This is what we all must turn our attention to, as otherwise our country will end up with widespread riots like Greece.
We must also stop throwing our money away to the wind, as for every £1 invested in wind farms only 50p is received as profit.
I see now that we are heading for an absolute disaster if we do not change our ways very soon.
Let us all start thinking of things to manufacture today and please let us follow the Hong Kong model, which has encouraged enterprise.
