THREE people lost their lives in road accidents in Faringdon, Bicester and Banbury over the weekend.
Police are appealing for information following the first collision, which took place near Faringdon on Friday evening.
The crash happened at about 8.20pm on the A420, when a heavy goods vehicle was in a collision with a 39-year-old man from the Faringdon area.
An off-duty police officer was the first person at the scene and, together with the HGV driver, gave the pedestrian first aid.
The man was taken by paramedics to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, but he died shortly afterwards.
The driver of the HGV, who was uninjured in the crash, is helping police with enquiries but no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The A420 was closed for four hours while officers carried out an investigation and diversions were put in place.
Pc Gavin Newman, of Abingdon roads policing, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was driving along the A420 around the time of the incident.”
Meanwhile, a 48-year-old pedestrian died in an accident in Gatteridge Street, Banbury.
The woman was involved in a collision with a silver Toyota Corolla, near the junction with Britannia Road at around 6.30pm on Saturday.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
In the third incident, a 26-year-old man died after his car crashed into a railway bridge.
The incident happened at the bridge in Bucknell Road, near the junction with Lords Lane at 7am on Saturday.
Yesterday relatives laid flowers at the scene.
