ACTORS from the Creation Theatre Company and BMW managers let their hair down to celebrate the 10th production to be staged at the Cowley Mini plant.

The shows are held in a massive tent for two months a year and have attracted 125,000 people since 2001.

The first production was Hamlet and saw Claudius and Gertrude driven to Elsinore in one of BMW’s luxury 7 series cars while Hamlet and Laertes fought their duel with spanners and hub caps.

This year’s production is Rapunzel or The Magic Pig featuring Amy Noble in the lead role.

David Parrish, Creation’s artistic and executive director, said: “When our friends at BMW and we began talking in July 2000 none of us knew what we were letting ourselves in for.

“Could a young and small theatre company and a major international car manufacturer work together? But 10 years and 125,000 audience members later we are all still at it, entertaining the people of Oxfordshire.”

Factory worker Catherine Leach said: “When it arrives at the plant it always reminds me that Christmas is fast approaching.”

Rapunzel or The Magic Pig runs from Friday, November 26, until January 15 next year.
