Work on Silverstone’s new pit, paddock and conference complex, which will be in use at the 2011 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix, is on schedule.

The new facility will cement Silverstone’s position as a top racing destination, providing world-class facilities, including new garages, a race control building, flexible conference and exhibition space, a new podium, media centre, hospitality and VIP spectator zones.

Richard Phillips, managing director of Silverstone Circuits, said that work on the new complex was due for completion in May 2011, prior to the Formula 1 British Grand Prix on July 08-10.

He said: “We are on schedule to meet our self-imposed completion date of May 2011.

"This pioneering development, and the redevelopment of Silverstone at large, will provide a world-class facility where all forms of motor sport can be celebrated in style – by competitors and spectators alike.

"As the iconic building on the circuit, the new pit, paddock and conference complex will reaffirm Silverstone’s position as a premier racing destination and our status as a global leader.”
