THE taxi driver who left Joe Collins at the side of the road screaming in pain has been condemned by the 15-year-old’s own words: Be a man.
Joe suffered a broken ankle in a collision with a black cab in Grays Road on Monday.
The driver picked him up after Joe waved for attention, he told police, but then dumped him at the side of the road despite being asked to take him home.
Joe even promised his mum Claire would cover the fare.
But the Cheney School pupil was left to crawl home and is likely to suffer permanently from arthritis.
There may be unknown elements to the crash itself. But this tax driver behaved appallingly, even if his original driving was not at fault.
According to Joe, the driver was clearly panicking but to leave this stricken lad shows he is not a ‘real man’, as the teenager himself says.
The only thing this driver can do is come forward because, as our story about appeals for Oxfordshire’s most wanted shows, there is a good chance someone else will turn him in.
