An alarm foiled a raid on the Co-op store in London Road, Headington, shortly after 4am yesterday.
Burglars smashed their way into the store and attempted to steal alcohol, but left the scene empty-handed when the alarms sounded.
PC David Kuttner said: “I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have seen or heard something.
“I know that there are often people at the coach stop across the road waiting for coaches to London and the airports at this time who may have witnessed this incident.
“If you have any information I would urge you to come forward as soon as possible and help us with our investigation.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Kuttner via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
