A TAXI driver left a 15-year-old boy by the side of the road near to a hospital after driving over his legs, police said.
At about 1.30pm on Monday, a black London taxi ran into the boy at the junction with Gipsy Lane and Greys Road, Oxford.
The driver stopped and put the boy in the back of the taxi, before dropping him off on Headley Way near the John Radcliffe Hospital.
PC Gary Froud said: “The boy has a very serious injury to his ankle, which will require prolonged hospital treatment.
“The taxi driver left the boy, who was screaming in agony, at the side of the road rather than taking him home or to hospital.
“Luckily a Good Samaritan picked him up and took him home.”
The boy had a broken ankle, which has now been operated on and will need more surgery in the future.
PC Froud said: “The driver is described as Asian and in his thirties and the car is a black London taxi, with no advertisements or markings on it.
“I am very keen to trace the driver in this incident, and would urge him, or anyone who witnessed the collision or the boy being left on Headley Way, to contact me.”
