GAY culture will be celebrated in Witney tomorrow when the third annual pride event is held in the town.
It runs from noon until 1am at The Plough Inn, in High Street.
Organiser Toni Le Busque said: “People can expect lots of music and fun and a really good atmosphere. We encourage people to be as gay as they possibly can, even if they are not.”
She said the event had started life as a “silly joke” on social networking site Facebook three years ago.
She said: “I put up a message that this year was going to have a gay parade that would start at McDonald’s and would move up the High Street and finish on the Buttercross.
“I mentioned it to somebody and they said: ‘Why don’t you do a real one?’”
The event will also raise money through auctions and other fundraising events for the gay rights organisation Stonewall.
Fi Ridley, events coordinator for the Plough, said: “No matter whether you’re gay, straight or whatever, it’s just going to be a fab day.”
