WRITERS, poets, artists and photographers are being encouraged to help create a new tourism book to showcase the Vale of White Horse.
Business interest groups have teamed up with the district council to ask local people help fill the book – called 52 Things to do…Far from the Madding Beaches.
The idea is to find one activity for every week of the year.
Council leaders want residents to help them highlight the area’s historic buildings, picturesque villages, best walks and cycle routes.
The ‘52 Team’ is planning to publish descriptive, funny or inspirational pieces of work by members of the public.
Richard Gibson, executive member for economic development, said: “We are looking to the Vale community to help us come up with a book that will really highlight the character of the district, show off the best places to visit and demonstrate the talents that our residents have.”
All entries must be received by Tuesday, November 30, and the book is expected to be published next year at a date to be fixed.
