The Issue debate concerning the cuts to funding of projects in the voluntary sector, particularly pre-schools and children’s centres, has hopefully continued to keep this important matter in the public eye.
Cumnor Pre-school Nursery, a pre-school setting that operates as a charity and is therefore non-profit-making, was the only pre-school whose funding for a replacement building was refused.
All the other major projects in this sector were given the go-ahead.
We would like the county council cabinet member for children, Louise Chapman, to inform us of the specific criteria for this decision.
We are pleased for the other sites who have been successful, but feel we are the sacrificial lamb which has enabled them to move forward with new builds that will see their futures secured.
