Callum hits Grove for 6
Callum Rolfe hit a double hat-trick with Ben Owen adding another as Kidlington ran out comfortable winners against Grove on a wet and windy Sunday morning.
The first game was tight until the latter stages. Ethan Couling put the home side ahead early on with a fine long-range effort, but Scott Ballard equalised for the visitors tucking home the rebound after home keeper Archie Devlin had done well to block the first shot. But for Devlin and home left back Archie Littlewood, Grove could have been ahead at half time. Kidlington bossed the second half, however, and further goals by Couling, Luca Sykes and Jamie Slevin put Kidlington 4-1 up whilst some excellent defensive work from Benjamin Merrill frustrated the Grove forwards.
The second game saw Kidlington play some truly sexy football. Outstanding passing through the midfield added to lethal finishing reaped a rich dividend. The home team scored with their first two attacks through Rolfe and Owen, before Grove pulled one back through Kyle Halsey. After Marcus Tranter restored Kidlington's two goal advantage however, the home team broke through regularly, with beautiful passing throughout the team. With Rolfe in superlative form and his strike partner Owen also finishing clinically, the front two enjoyed 9 goals between them. Ben Stewart also deservedly joined his midfield teammate on the score sheet with the final goal making it 12-1 in the second match and 16-2 overall.
