A BUSINESS student who broke a man’s kneecap in a fight outside an Oxford nightclub has been given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Oxford Brookes University student James Ogden, 19, who lives at the Wheatley campus, was also ordered at Oxford Crown Court on Friday to do 200 hours’ unpaid work with three months’ supervision with a restorative justice requirement.
He punched Samuel Madison to the floor and repeatedly kicked him while he was down, the court heard.
The fight broke out after Ogden’s girlfriend had been hit in the face by another man outside The Bridge nightclub in Hythe Bridge Street at about 1.30am on November 10.
Nigel Daly, prosecuting, said Mr Madison required a number of hospital visits and operations.
Ogden, 19, of Brookes’ Wheatley campus, admitted causing grievous bodily harm without intent.
Stephen Parker, defending, said his client was “deeply remorseful”.
