THE family of a 62-year-old man killed after the car he was driving struck a tree said they are devastated.
Chris Atkinson, who lived in Wallingford, was in a Citroen C3 when it came off the A4074 Reading Road in Cane End on Saturday.
The road was closed for three hours while officers investigated the death. No other vehicles were involved.
Last night, his family said: “We are devastated by his death.
“He was travelling from his home near Wallingford to see a friend in London, a route he had taken many times.
“He leaves two adult children, two grandchildren, his sister and two brothers together with a wide range of friends from the Reading area and beyond.”
A private family funeral and memorial celebration of his life will be held later in the year.
