Well done to Carl Hobbs for losing 11 stone through exercise and diet (Oxford Mail, September 28).
He looks great for it and I am sure his health has improved dramatically. Mr Hobbs stated: “I don't think you can bribe someone to lose weight.”
However, it is stated that he took the easy option of surgery first and when refused went on the diet.
Too many people are taking the easy option, simply because it is there.
More people need to be motivated to diet and exercise themselves!
I see clinically obese people riding along on those electric scooters because they are too fat and don’t want to exercise, not because they are incapable!
On September 19, 20-stone Michael Treadwell thought it was patronising to say diet and exercise are a practical alternative to the knife for over weight people.
This was not patronising at all, it is fact!
People hear a lot about anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, but there is third category of ‘eating disorders not otherwise specified’ (EDNOS).
EDNOS includes several variations of eating disorders. Most of them are similar to anorexia or bulimia but with slightly different characteristics.
Binge-eating disorder, which has received increasing research and media attention in recent years, is one type of EDNOS.
Binge eating disorders are another thing altogether and need to be diagnosed professionally, but all that most fatties need to do is take a hard look at what you are putting into your trolley or cut out the alcohol and wake up!
