I was very interested in the story about the failed bid to get Town Green status for Witney Meadows (Oxford Mail, September 7) and the fact that the battle to build the Cogges Link road was not over.
How long have we all been told to do all we can for our green environment, especially by county councils and governments who made it clear they want all cars off our roads.
But now those same officials are pushing for a road across the green meadows of our countryside. So which is it? Does Oxfordshire County Council and others want fewer cars on the roads or to build more roads?
I hope somebody buys this green meadow and keeps it, as a meadow, for future children to learn about a green environment and to respect and look after our countryside – a school project would be good.
