LIKE many blots of the landscape, a certain affection has grown up around the six cooling towers at Didcot Power Station.
They are 40 years old this month and you can’t deny they are iconic, looming across the south Oxfordshire skyline.
And if you really can’t find it in your heart to wish them a happy birthday, at least you know they will not survive to see their 50th birthday.
