Sir – I sympathise with Christopher Gray in his experience of thieves on the Athenian metro (Gray Matter, September 23).
But I doubt if dedicated tourist trains are a realistic possibility in the present Greek economic climate.
Instead I would personally advocate instead taking the bus from the airport, as I always do.
It takes a bit longer, but it’s safer, not very much more expensive (3.20 Euros!) still lands you at Syntagma, and gives you a chance to experience the Athenian landscape.
