Sir – From the front page (September 23), of the four photographs highlighting individuals being paid more than the PM, three of them are women.
Reading the article and looking through your website, I could not find a list of the names, their organisations and their respective salaries.
So I could not work out if three-quarters of the list were women as the ratio of male to female photographs implied.
I understand that you should not worry about these things with lots of legislation around equal pay but my feelings are that the experience of a good number of females in the working world is that there are still stealthily enforced glass ceilings out there and it just seemed to unfairly highlight women in this case who otherwise have done well to achieve an excellent level of pay.
In another era/light, this would be a good news story celebrating the achievements of women.

The data on salaries was supplied in such a way that only a small number of public servants at the top of their professions were identified by name — Ed
