A LANDLORD was threatened with a hammer and gun before £16,000 was stolen from an Oxford pub.

The landlord was cashing up when he was forced to hand over a week’s takings from the Hobgoblin, in Cowley Road, Oxford on Sunday between 11pm and 11.30pm.

Police are treating the incident as aggravated burglary.

The men are described as white, in their forties and wearing dark clothing with their faces covered. One was wearing white trainers and carrying an olive shoulder bag.

Det Con Nick Hills, investigating, said: “The Cowley Road would have been fairly busy at this time of night.

“I appeal to anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously near to the pub just after closing time to contact police.”

Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505 505, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
