The Council has just spent millions of pounds of our money on a vast so-called improvement scheme along the London Road. Yet, when I was cycling along it yesterday, near to the junction with Stile Road, I noticed a large pothole filling up with rainwater, positively dangerous to cyclists and pedestrians.
I keep asking other people if they think the result of this scheme is an improvement and so far I have not met anybody who says yes.
The road seems to be of varying width, causing confusion rather than streamlining traffic. The pavement is wider in some places without any apparent justification and there is still the same shortage of cycle racks. I still have to attach mine to various fences when going to the shops, dentist etc.
I strongly support the case for local shopkeepers to be compensated for all the loss and disruption this scheme has cost them.
