In response to Keith Mitchell’s reply to my letter (Oxford Mail, September 24) I stand by my comments as printed.
Oxfordshire County Council is wasting huge amounts of council taxpayers’ money on useless schemes designed to implement total gridlock in the city of Oxford.
The number of people writing letters of complaint about County Council policies and ideas under his leadership is worrying and alarming.
We simply cannot all be wrong as Keith Mitchell would like to suggest.
So Mr Mitchell, why is Oxfordshire County Council implementing road narrowing and road closures in and around the main arterial London Road in Headington?
Just what sort of council would squander huge amounts to implement this sort of chaos on the approach roads to the largest A&E hospital in the South East of England?
I just hope that common sense prevails and that the emergency services lodge a formal complaint without delay.
This, Mr Mitchell, is an example of the type of policy that Oxfordshire County Council, under your leadership, is wasting taxpayers’ money on.
For you to openly defend this type of nonsense clearly shows how Oxfordshire County Council's policy for total gridlock will damage existing jobs and, in these trying times, even deter any company considering moving or opening a new business in Oxford.
The open spaces on the Cowley Business Park confirm this.
The logistical transport costs would simply be prohibitive. Oxford needs jobs Mr Mitchell, not traffic jams.
