Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Burford, where the burglar was disturbed by the homeowner.
At 1.35pm on Wednesday, September 22, the 60-year-old man who lives in the property in Tanners Lane heard noises coming from downstairs and when he went to investigate he discovered a man putting property into a bag.
The man stopped as soon as he was disturbed and ran out of the back of the property and across a field away from the scene, leaving behind the items he placed in the bag.
He did manage to steal a mobile phone and a wallet and purse containing debit cards and cash.
The man is described as 5ft 10in, well built, approximately 24 years old, with dark hair and very pale skin. He was wearing a black and white checked jacket.
PC Philip Marstin said: “I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the man either before or after the burglary, or anyone who may have information about this incident.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Marstin via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
