After a heavy defeat last weekend, Ardington were looking for a much improved performance against Abingdon Youth on Saturday.
They opened the match brightly with several good chances early on. Their pressure was rewarded in the tenth minute when Joseph Flanagan slotted the ball home from a corner.
Abingdon began to find their feet as the game went on, and though against the run of play, they scored an equaliser just before half time. They continued to step up the pace in the second half, pushing Ardington back. Goalkeeper Tommy Rees spared the teams blushes when he saved in a one on one situation. Abingdon also went close when a free kick was blocked on the line following a pass back.
The game ended 1-1 with honours even in a well contested game.
