With Oxford United going well in the Football League, spare a thought for us at Oxford City. After last season’s spectacular FA Cup run (with the much appreciated coverage from the Oxford Mail), City currently sit one place off the bottom of the Southern Premier League and have yet to win this season.
With former Oxford United favourite Mike Ford now manager at City, I urge all football fans in Oxford to take an interest in your non-League club.
Oxford City have a number of former professionals and play attractive counter-attacking football.
You can have a beer on the terraces and a singsong with the locals. It’s grassroots football at its best – competitive on the pitch and fun in the stands.
I know that United will always take the headlines, and it’s understandable.
I simply ask you to get behind your city’s non-League side, which is in desperate need of your support.
