Police are appealing for witnesses following a series of burglaries in Oxford.

Five properties in Jericho and Summertown have been burgled between September 16 and 23, with laptops, computers, iPods and cash among the property taken.

PC Darren Pomroy, who is investigating the series of burglaries, believes they are linked and is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “All of the burglaries have been committed during the day, between the hours of 8am and 8pm while the occupants have been at work.

“In some of the incidents, thieves have taken advantage of insecure windows or doors, and I would encourage everyone to make sure that they lock their windows, doors, and garden gates and consider installing rear security lights.”

Two of the burglaries were in Juxon Street, where a laptop was stolen on the 17 September from one address, and a laptop and iPod were stolen from a second address on September 20.

On September 16, a laptop, an iPod and cash were stolen from a property in Banbury Road.

In St Bernards Road, an Apple computer, laptop, a bottle of whisky, a camera, and cash were stolen from a house on September 23.

And on September 18, thieves attempted to break into a house in Hamilton Road, but did not take anything.

PC Pomroy added: “Due to the pattern of the offences and their time frames, we are considering them to be linked. I would encourage residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in the area.

“Please keep your laptops and valuables out of sight, and never leave cash in the house. Also, please secure any tools you may have in your garden as these can often be used to break in to your property.”
