This was a game that Kennington dominated from the moment they scored about 5 minutes into the game.
Strangely, the Cougars could easily have been in the lead by then, but after that the Kennington defence held firm and restricted Cougars to very few chances.
At the other end of the pitch, the Cougars defended non-stop, but couldn't prevent Kennington taking a 3-0 lead by half-time.
In the second half, there was some more of the same: last-ditch defending by the Cougars, and good finishing by Kennington, including a long distance free kick which flew into the top of the net.
There was also a Geoff Hurst/Frank Lampard moment when it wasn't clear whether the ball had crossed the line after hitting the bar, but the home linesman showed admirable neutrality to instruct the referee that a goal had been scored by the narrowest of margins.
Well done to Kennington, well-deserved victors.
Scorers: James Smith 2, Brent Dalton 1, Ben Smith 1, Owen Sharp 2
