For the second home game in a row, a team 2-0 down fought back to win 3-2. This time though it was Marston Saints on the receiving end, as Harwell & Hendred battled back for a narrow victory.
Harwell & Hendred started well, but fell behind to the first of 5 goals which all followed corners. Awadh Mohamed, the Marston Saints forward came back to defend a short corner by Harwell & Hendred, and then ran the length of the field before firing home the opener. Shortly after, Awadh scored his second, after Ethan Collins had chested down a corner into his path.
Harwell & Hendred continued to play good football, and got their reward when Samuel Barham scored at the back post from a corner. Another Harwell & Hendred corner saw another goal before half-time, this one finished by Tom Cooper.
The second half followed a very similar pattern, though Marston Saints failed to learn their lesson in defending corners. Another fine corner was met by an excellent header from Tom Cooper, for what turned out to be the winning goal. Brandon Reed-Strahan, Saints emergency keeper in the absence of their normal stopper, made a number of notable saves to keep Saints in the game, but at the other end, Saints were unable to create any clear cut chances.
It was another match played in the right spirit by both sides, although I am not sure my heart can take all these tight games.
