WANTAGE: Plans to turn the town’s former Regent Cinema into a nightclub moved a step forward yesterday when Vale of White Horse District Council’s licensing sub-committee granted a late-night alcohol sales licence for the venue, in Newbury Street.
H&H Entertainment, which is seeking planning permission for the club, was given the go-ahead to serve alcohol until 2am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights by councillors meeting at Abingdon Guildhall.
H&H director Steve Head said: “It’s great news for the town as we move a step closer to delivering a community venue.”
