A FOMRER Wantage cinema is one step closer to becoming a nightclub.
Vale of White Horse Council granted the developers a late-night drinking license for the old Regent Cinema on Newbury Street.
H & H Entertainment, if granted planning permission later this year, will be able to serve alcohol to 2am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The company says the venue could hold 500 people and it hopes to put on events including charity boxing matches, dance and comedy.
Director, Steve Head, said: βIt is great news for the town as we move a step closer to delivering a community venue to Wantage and surrounding areas.β
The license was granted at a meeting of a licensing sub-committee at the Guildhall, Abingdon, on Thursday, September 23.
