Two recent reports in the Oxford Mail have prompted me to write to you.
The first was the story that vital paperwork had been mislaid pertaining to the public inquiry that has been called into the alleged suicide of Government weapons expert Dr David Kelly, in Southmoor (September 13).
I was not in the bit least surprised that this vital piece of evidence had gone missing.
The Government seems hell- bent on preventing this inquest from taking place. I wonder why?
I have my opinion on this and will leave it to other readers to make their own decision.
The second report that caught my attention was that of Blackbird Leys councillor Gordon Roper who hailed the 20mph enforcement a success (September 13).
Obviously the councillor concerned does not travel by bus. If he did so, he would realise that drivers are in radio contact with each other – and that it wouldn’t take long for the word to get around that there were speed checks going on.
The 20mph limit does not work because the police do not enforce it. They only seem to appear in force on Friday and Saturday nights in George Street. Where are they for the rest of the week?
