ABOUT 30 forces personnel are to brave the winter chill in a sleep-out to raise money for a homeless shelter.
A team from Air Movements Squadron at RAF Brize Norton will be taking part in the charity sleep-out at St Clement’s Church in Oxford on November 13.
SAC Faz Farrell, who is leading the endeavour along with SAC Di Matthews said: “We have about 30 involved at the moment but we’ll probably have more once we’ve started advertising”.
The squadron supports RAF flights between the UK and destinations around the world. SAC Matthews grew up in a military family and said they decided to raise the cash as many of Oxford’s homeless were from ex-military backgrounds.
She added: “Some local homeless people came and joined us last year, it was good to hear their stories, which reinforce our reasons for doing this.
“We’re doing it for them but this is the reality they face every night.”
