COFFEE-lovers around the county are gearing up for the 20th Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning tomorrow.

Hundreds of Oxfordshire businesses, residents and organisations will be holding coffee mornings to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Almost 500 coffee mornings are registered in Oxfordshire and organisers hope more than 600 will actually take place tomorrow.

Last year, 421 coffee mornings across Oxfordshire raised more than £90,000.

And countrywide, more than 43,000 people took part and raised £7.9m for the charity, which offers practical, emotional and financial support to cancer sufferers.

Stella Krajewski, Oxfordshire’s fundraising manager, said: “I’m delighted about the response we have received from supporters in Oxfordshire for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

“It’s only through these supporters and coffee morning hosts that we can raise the funds we need for people living with cancer in Oxfordshire.”

To celebrate the fundraising event, the Oxford Mail and Macmillan have been offering four lucky hosts the chance to win a pack of fantastic goodies.

Every vistor who registered for a coffee morning information pack on our website was entered into a prize draw for the goodies.

They included cakes from Witney bakers the Fabulous Bakin’ Boys, a set of mugs and a host of other fun coffee morning items.

The first to win was Bonmarche in Market Place, Didcot.

Store worker Clare Rigg said: “We’ve hosted a Macmillan coffee morning before and they have always been great fun and a brilliant way to raise money for a very good cause.”

Three other lucky winners will find out and receive their prize just in time for the event tomorrow.
